Boston College

Boston College, often called BC by those who attend or live near the institution, is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The college is considered a private Roman Catholic Jesuit research university. Roughly ten thousand undergraduates study on campus and there is a graduate population of 4,000 students. It has an endowment of roughly 1.5 billion dollars, which gives it plenty of room to maneuver when it comes to ensuring that the students are receiving a good education and the researchers have the equipment needed to stay cutting edge.

One of the most remarkable things about Boston College is the architecture that the college is built in. It features some of the earliest examples of collegiate gothic architecture in North America making the surroundings historic to work and study in.

Boston College is also one of the better institutions of higher learning in the United States – U.S. News & World Report currently ranks it 31 in the National Universities. Boston College has nine schools and colleges, and offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and doctoral degrees. Many students come here from around the world to study – and a great deal of the faculty is international, as well.

Boston College has a lively sports program, as well. The team is called the Eagles, and the colors of the college are maroon and gold. The Eagles are in NCAA Division I in the Atlantic Coast Conference in all sports except for wrestling. Many students get to study at this fine university through their athletic prowess – Boston College actively recruits athletes. This makes Boston College one of the most formidable athletic forces in the region and even in the country – if you have a chance to check out an Eagles event, you should definitely do so!

Another thing that makes Boston College so great is its focus on international study. All students who come to Boston College for the undergraduate program in particular are encouraged to spend some time abroad and study elsewhere. This adds an element of diversity to education at Boston College that many other universities and colleges just don’t possess.

If you’re looking for one of New England’s premier universities, you’re looking for Boston College.
