Few summer activities can entertain the whole family like a trip to the beach. There is something about the warm sun, cool breeze, and cool waters that can appeal to people of all ages and from all regions! This certainly holds true for those beaches in Connecticut, which are known for attracting visitors from all over the world.
Among Connecticut’s popular summer destination spots is Weed Beach Park, located within the small town of Darien. Residents love this location because it is known around town as a fantastic place to take a swim, or to just spend the day sunbathing in relaxation. The key to most vacations, after all, is being able to relax, and this beach park is a perfect place to do so.
Weed Beach Park covers 22 acres of maintained lands, resting just off of Route 1 off of Nearwater Lane. The park includes a number of convenient amenities, including a restroom and bathing area. There is also a regularly cleaned picnic area for those who want to break for lunch while they are enjoying the sunshine. A concession stand is even available for those who don’t bring their own food.
This beach park is particularly popular among those people who like to play sports while visiting the beach, as a number of recreational facilities are provided. As the home of the famous Future Stars Tennis Lessons, Weed Beach Park offers six different tennis courts for local enjoyment. In addition to these traditional facilities, there are five paddle tennis courts for those looking to expand their horizons.
The kids will enjoy spending their day at one of multiple play areas provided for youth, and there is also the Darien Junior Sailing Program to take advantage of. Use this opportunity to introduce your children to the sea by giving them the chance to learn about boating. Weed Beach also features a large stage, which regularly holds youth concerts to entertain local and visiting youth.
While summer is the most popular time to visit Weed Beach Park, the property is open during fall and winter, as well. While sunbathing not be the activity of choice during these times of the year, the tennis courts are still open, as are the paddle tennis facilities. Regardless of the weather, the beach is always a nice place to take a stroll and relax with your thoughts!
