Biddeford is a medium sized town with an unusual history. It can be found in the southwestern part of the state, in York County. Biddeford is actually the sixth largest city in Maine, with a population of roughly 21 thousand as of the 2010 census. There is also a large revolving population that comes in and out ofBiddeford in the form of students – the University of New England is located here. In addition to the lively student population Biddeford is also a very popular place with tourists; it includes the resort community of Biddeford Pool, Fortune Rocks, and Granite Point. It also has the distinction of being one of the earliest settlements made by Europeans on the North American continent – European explorers first visited it in 1616.

In recent years, a 500,000 square foot shopping center called Biddeford Crossing opened, featuring 20 stores and 5restaurants. There are even more strip malls that are appearing on the State Route 111 corridor – if nothing else, Biddeford and the surrounding area is a great place to go shopping and strip and outlet malls!
