Ossipee Lake is the sixth largest lake in New Hampshire, measuring 3.5 miles across at its widest point. It is also extraordinary beautiful, and many locals have set up shop on the edges of the lake – it has also garnered a lot of attention from the condominium community and lost of condos and summer homes dot the sores of the lake. If you happen to be visiting Freedom, you must spend some time here – if the weather is warm you’ll be able to swim and boat in some absolutely incredible surroundings. Even if you come during the colder months of the year, however, it’s still likely that you will be able to take some joy out of the lake – if nothing else because you’ll have the expansive views all to yourself!
For those who are looking for something nature-related to do with the kids come this comer, be sure to check out Freedom’s Nature Classroom, which helps educate youth about how important the natural areas of the planet, and how to best conserve and protect them. This program has seen a lot of success throughout New England and it has even expanded to other areas of the country – most notably New York and Tennessee. Most kids who do the camp are between fifth and eighth grades, and many are repeat attendees.
