Nashua is the second largest city in the sate of New Hampshire after Manchester. In its heyday it was one of the core textile-producing cities in the nation, but has recently become involved in the expansion of the Boston area. Many of the locals say that the culture of the town is more similar to that of Massachusetts than that of New Hampshire, but it remains an engaging place to visit with a flavor all of its own. It has been voted twice as the best place to live in America by Money magazine, and has also been called one of the safest places to live in the country. What this means for a visitor is that it’s definitely a worthwhile place to check out – if nothing else then to see what all of the fuss is about!

In general, Nashua is a quieter place to visit. If you’re looking for raucous nightlife and a city to really cut loose in, you’d probably be better off in Manchester, or even in bigger places like Boston or Providence. But if what you’re looking for is a place to kick back and enjoy some good food and beautiful scenery, Nashua is where it’s at. The downtown area is a consummate place to enjoy yourself, with world-class restaurants, entertainment, and dining. You can easily be swept away for a couple of days in the charming downtown area, which has quintessential New England architecture and friendly people. The Pheasant Lane Mall might not be particularly notable for individuals who come from far off places, but it is quite a draw for those that live in neighboring Massachusetts – the lack of sales tax in New Hampshire draws people from all over New England to come and shop here.

While the city was once a hub of textile industry, the focus these days have turned more toward the technical, in accordance of the time. Nashua Corp. was actually one of the world’s leading producers of floppy discs back in the day, and now Hewlett-Packard and the software company Oracle Corporation are based out of Nashua.

Nashua is a comparatively small city, but it packs a wallop and is cost-conscious to boot. Be sure to visit if you’re in the area!
