Providence is a great place for individuals who would like to visit New England and soak up the local culture. If you happen to be a fan of coffee and donuts, you’ll be right at home in Providence – it has the most coffee shops per capita as compared to any other city in the country. The same goes for restaurants – you won’t be able to go half a block before running into one of the city’s many eating-places. There are several different ethnic enclaves to be found within the city: Federal Hill and North End are primarily Italian, while Fox Point and West End are dominated by Central Americans and Asians. This gives these areas a unique culture all of their own – and many of the restaurants located in these enclaves are the best in the city!
Providence never lacks for entertainment. If you happen to be in the city during the summer months, be sure not to miss WaterFire, an environment art installation that involves over 100 bonfires blazing along the rivers that cut through downtown Providence. There are multiple WaterFire events each summer, and live music and a festive atmosphere always accompany them.
As with any New English city, Providence is thick with history, and there are a number of historical attractions in the area that document the city’s history. Be sure to check out this lively, fascinating city when in New England.
